Introduction
Hardware wallets are the most secure way to store your digital assets. In this article, we'll show you how to create a Connector, that leverages the security and convenience of ID4Good and Ledger hardware wallets to secure your assets. You can secure a growing list of assets on the 4GoodNetwork, including: Apta4Good, Token4Good, gBTC, gETH, and more.
Prerequisites
- You have downloaded, setup, and backed up your ID4Good on your mobile.
- Ledger Live installed (if not, See Instruction below).
How to install the app using Ledger Live
Getting Started
- Download and Install the Ledger Live program on your computer here (Note: More information on getting started with your ledger device can be found here).
- Open the Ledger Live program and then connect your Ledger device to the computer via the USB-cable.
- Once connected, either enter you security pin (or if it’s your first time, select the security pin for the device, see help here).
- Once the device is unlocked, update the firmware to the latest version for your specific device (Nano S, Nano S Plus, Nano X).
Install the ID4Good app on your Ledger device
- With the Ledger Live program open and your device connected, select the My Ledger Tab under the Menu list on the left side of the screen.
- If asked, allow the My Ledger access to your device.
- Search and find ID4Good in the App Catalog.
- Click INSTALL button to install the ID4Good app on your Ledger device:
- An installation window will appear.
- Your Ledger device should display Processing…
- Ledger Live should display Installed once finished.
- Your now ready to start using ID4Good with your Ledger device.
How to Connect your Ledger Device with Wallet4Good
Be sure you have installed the ID4Good app on your Ledger Device.
1. Open Wallet4Good and sign in with your ID4Good.
2. Once you are on the Main tab of your Wallet4Good page, navigate to the My Apps tab.
3. Select the Wallets Icon from the selection menu.
4. Next, press the plus (+) button under the Wallets icon.
5. Complete the fields:
a. Device - your Ledger device must be connected
b. Channel - method Ledger device is connected by
c. Token - the asset you wish to secure
6. Open the ID4Good app on your Ledger device.
7. With the Ledger device connect, select Get Wallet Address.
8. Once the address is populated, select Create Connector.
9. Go to your Wallets and find the new hardware wallet, here you can withdraw and add tokens to your new connector.
Once your ID4Good account has been created on your Ledge device. An address key for the account is stored in your Ledger device.
Where to view your account Balance using your Ledger Device
To view your account balance, you can access your Wallet4Good by connecting your Ledger device with the ID4Good app to any computer.
- On your computer, open Wallet4Good and wait for the QR code to appear.
- Under the QR code on Wallet4Good, select where it says “Or use your Ledger”.
- You will be prompted to select how you want to connect your Ledger device to the computer, either by USB or Bluetooth.
- On your Ledger device, you will get a signed message to grant access to the hardware wallet.
- Select Accept to the signed message on your Ledger device.
- The Wallet4Good page should refresh and load to the Main tab of your Wallet4Good page, all your assets in your Wallet4Good will be listed there.
- Select the My Apps button at the bottom of the screen.
- Next, select the Wallets Icon from the list of items.
- Under the create new Wallet section will be a list of the assets stored in Ledger hardware wallets, with the details of what each contains (token, amount, etc.).
How to send and receive cryptos assets with ID4Good on your Ledger Device
Before transferring tokens on the 4GoodNetwork blockchain, on your Ledger device, make sure that you have enabled blind signings in the ID4Good app settings.
To enable Blind Signings:
- Connect and unlock your Ledger device.
- Open the ID4Good app on your Ledger device.
- Navigate to Settings by pressing the right button. Then press both buttons to validate.
- In the Blind Signings settings, select Yes by pressing both buttons.
Note: When signing Bloqs4Good transactions using your Ledge device, there will be a PubKey length feature. It allows you to set the to short or long settings:
- Short setting will display a truncated transaction address and only reveal its beginning and end.
- Long setting displays the full address.
Long setting is recommended for use by Ledger device for security perspectives, so that when verifying a transaction the full address is available.
Receive Tokens For Ledger Hardware Wallet
To receive tokens to your Ledger hardware wallet, you need to send the transferring party the address for your hardware wallet.
- On the Main tab of Wallet4Good page, select the My Apps button at the bottom of the screen.
- Next, select the Wallets Icon from the list of items.
- Under the create new Wallet section will be a list of the assets stored in Ledger hardware wallets, with the details of what each contains (token, amount, etc.).
- Select the hardware wallet you wish to receive the transferred tokens to, and select the hardware wallet information.
- Copy the address of the hardware wallet (clipboard at the end for convenience).
- Send to the party performing the transaction.
Send Tokens With Ledger Hardware Wallet
To send tokens from your Wallet4Good;
- With your WalletGood. your Ledger device connected and ID4Good App running in your Ledger device.
- Select My Apps at the bottom of the screen.
- Next, select the Wallet Icon from the list.
- On the hardware wallet with the asset you wish to send, click the forward arrow under the balance you have of the asset.
- This opens the send transaction screen.
- Fill in the address to the holder’s hardware wallet that you are sending the assets to.
- Fill in the amount of the asset you want to send.
- Press Send to complete the transaction.
- On your Ledger device, select Accept for the transaction.
- Once the transaction has been completed, It shows you a summary of the transaction (what is being sent, how much gas it will cost, asset amount afterwards).
